First decide if you want to silkscreen print or transfer print your t-shirts. Transfers tend to cheaper while silk screening will last longer and be better quality.

Secondly, you can work in your branding or advertising message onto the shirts. You can design shirts in any possible configuration: printing on the front, back, sleeves and/or hemlines.

Your next stop from the shirt store should be at the fabric paint store. Choose the colors that you would want to have on your shirt. Remember to pick only fabric colors and not paper colors because only fabric colors can guarantee not to fade after washing and ironing.

Make sure you wear clothes depending on the people you expect to meet. Funny t-shirts can be of various kinds: Family Jokes, Adult Humour, Sex Jokes etc. You don't want to wear an Adult joke t-shirt to a kids only party!

Don't forget to ask people for their opinions, and learn to accept criticism. In the same way that you won't like everything other T shirt designers do, not everyone will like what you do. What can you learn from this? Are these people offering constructive advice?

The graphics to be used is very important to consider when you planning to design your shirt. Without this of course your shirt will be boring and not so attractive to catch attention of others. If you want you can surf the net to get more ideas of what would be the best and cool design for your shirt.

PMS colors are a better choice: It is quite common for designers to use an RGB or CMYK scheme. But if you want a better finish and smooth color separations, using PMS colors is your best bet. Sometimes, the printer may give pieces of fabrics and sample prints so that they can match the colors and texture as per their needs.

3) There are different types of possible printed t-shirts that can be created by using various styles of transfer sheets. Iron-on paper is best suitable for a light coloured printed t-shirt while a glittered sheet is best for a formal kind of dark printed t-shirt.
