Here is my tip on how to make sure you can start talking to people at such parties. It has personally worked very well for me, so I am sure there is no reason it would not work for you.

How about painting something on your t-shirt? No, you need not be painting incredibly creative designs on your t-shirt. Even the simplest of design or patterns may work just as well. For example, you can draw different phases of the moon, hearts, candies, and other such simplistic patterns. And, if you cant sketch even these, then just draw basic shapes such as triangle or squares.

This method enables you to get complex photographic and multi-colored images and that too in without too much of mess. However there are some limitations of this process. Every time you want to print a t-shirt you need to cut the shape that you want to be printed and remove the part that you do not want on the t-shirt. This takes up a lot of time and the process becomes non-feasible if you need to do the work in bulk.

How about heat presses? A heat press is a machine that is exactly what its name implies, it is a heater that is pressed on to the shirt and transfers a design to the shirt. The transfer papers are printed, usually by a third party company, and then the ink is heated by the press and transferred in to the fibers of the shirt. This method has come a long way and I believe is the preferred method if you are starting up an at home T shirt business. There is also a new development with transfer paper that allows you to use a standard ink jet printer at home to print your own designs. This can be great to see exactly how your design will look on your shirt. With the price of presses dropping you could get in to this business for as little as $600.

You'll need to know how to send your picture and images to them so that they can put them, on your T shirts. Can you upload images online, or do you need to physically send CDs or memory sticks?

Why not look at previous winners, and other T shirts that you like, and see if you can establish why you like them, and why they are popular. What about speaking to other T Shirt designers and seeing what inspires them, or what else you can learn from them?

Once fully prepared, rest of the work is done by the machine and this makes the T-shirt printing process a lot simple. Perhaps, it is not possible for a person to look after the machine's working. It is much convenient to have one worker for inserting T-shirts while the other person pulls it out from the other end. This way monitoring the T-shirts for any kind of defects or problems can be possible.
