Coronavirus Could Halt Chelsea And Man United Bidding For Jadon Sancho

Chelsea and Manchester United could be dealt a blow in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho this summer by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Both Premier League clubs were expected to battle for Sancho's signature with the Borussia Dortmund winger expected to return to England.

But the coronavirus outbreak, which has forced a shutdown of football in countries across the globe, could now scupper their plans to land one of football's hottest properties.

According to German outlet Bild, United and Chelsea's budget for the transfer window will 'depend on whether they receive the full amount of TV revenue for this season'.

If the coronavirus crisis continues to cause delays to football then both clubs may struggle to meet Dortmund's £118million asking price.

There has been no Premier League football played since March 9 due to the coronavirus shutdown with English football suspended until April 30 at the earliest.  

Sancho is contracted to Dortmund until 2022 and they are in no rush to sell one of their prized assets.

The Telegraph also reports that there is now 'uncertainty over whether owners have the appetite to spend big' with the financial costs of coronavirus set to hit clubs for months to come. 

It is claimed clubs have told agents that their transfer plans for this summer are now up in the air, especially with no concrete date for when they will return to action.

That could leave Sancho's future in doubt.

Sancho joined Borussia Dortmund in 2017, where he has progressed to become of Europe's most exciting and dangerous attacking young players.

This season has been his Best IPTV Box 2020 to date, scoring 17 goals and making 19 assists in his 35 games to date.

However, it emerged on Tuesday night that English football is exploring proposals to extend the summer transfer window until the end of January.

There is huge uncertainty over how the summer window, which is due to open on July 1 and close on August 31, will comprise given the delay in competition owing to the coronavirus.

Sportsmail understands football chiefs are considering having one prolonged transfer window that would run from the end of the current campaign until the end of January. 

Premier League teams must abide by FIFA laws on transfers; and world football's governing body has opened a taskforce to deal with the issue.
