These days' liquid detergents which are very gentle on fabrics are easily available in supermarkets as well. Make sure to set the washing machine accurately as per the requirement. Shirts would lose sleeves, front tabs and buttons; skirts, dresses and jeans would lose waistbands, pockets and zippers BUT you must save the buttons and zippers for another clothing project.
