DVD rental kiosks - You may have seen one of those DVD rental kiosks at your local supermarket offering a DVD for $1. Even though the selection is nowhere near that of your local video store or your online service, they do add newer movies every week. Finding a couple or more good movies for $1 each is a pretty awesome deal even if the selection is smaller. In fact, renting 12 DVDs in a month would cost you a little over $14 or $15 with taxes included. That beats the $20 for one month of online rentals, AND it beats the $16 you would spend on 3 New Release DVDs in one night at your local video store! One other great facet of this option is that being located in a supermarket, it is a nice segue to the next step in creating your inexpensive family night.

Online movie forums thrive because it's a cool way for viewers to become a movie critic from their computer and express their uncensored audience opinion. That is one of things I love about the social medium. The Internet allows people to enjoy freedom of speech, even when it's just about posting about a movie. I trust the opinions of people that post in forums more than paid movie critics. Most paid movie critics focus on reviewing studio films, art house fare, or offbeat films with known Hollywood stars in them.

If you are never able to watch the games because you are busy with work or whatever else excuse you have; well the great thing is the no sports fan ever has to worry about missing another competition online. Technology has made is so easy for the average person to watch any television...sports event or any kind of Movie Online without having to worry about missing anothe show. You will not have to worry about recording the games and then watching them later.

Setting up the "theater": Choose an area in your home that has little distractions. Close the curtains (especially in the daytime: glare is horrible!), turn off the lights, and make sure you watch the movie with the best sound equipment you have. I know a couple who makes movie night really fun without a TV! They set their laptop on a desk in a cool dark room in their home. The husband has large speakers used for small concerts. He hooks them up to his laptop, and the couple snuggles up in front of the computer and watches DVDs with awesome sound. Maybe you can come up with something creative to enhance your movie experience with what you have in your home!

Most online movie rental companies give you two options either to receive the movie in the mail after a 24 hour period, or the option to download the movie which usually takes about an hour. Most of these companies offer 100's of thousands of titles to choose from and another great benefit to renting movies online is the fact that you don't have to return them right after you watch them and there are no late fees. you just return them when you feel like it.

Video & Audio Previews. This way is probably the best if you want to get into the atmosphere of the movie and find out how well it is directed. Though it takes a couple of minutes to download, it's worth it!

Online DVD rentals - With no return dates and no late fees, online renting is becoming more and more popular. Depending on the service you subscribe to, you could easily go through as many as 12 DVDs in four Movie Nights and only pay $20 for that whole month. That's about $1.67 per rental! And instead of having to decide which movie to get each time, the whole family can fill up the online queue with several selections and they will automatically be shipped out in the order you wish. The only "con" with this option is that since the DVDs are sent to you and also returned by mail, you need to plan ahead a little with keeping your queue full and returning the DVDs so the next ones can be sent out. Considering the money you will be saving, this is still a great way to go.
