The Hippie Lifestyle at the end of 1960s which promoted Serenity and Love, and many Filipinos also embraced the culture and continued until the early seventies. At the same time, the up tick of Filipino Nationalism started out and both movements affected the way people lived and dressed. Early seventies saw women starting to abandon mini skirts for a more modest clothing such as maxi skirt. Vintage clothing from the Victorian Era of the west also shot up in popularity as long fleshlight sleeves, laces, and collars became popular in dresses. Bells Bottom pants slowly became popular, and that would continue for other decade.

Guys also wore Bell Underside often in bright colors, similar to the women. Also, Turtle necks shot up in popularity as well as sweater vests, armani earrings colorful bright patterned polos and pants.

By core the 1970s, men started using t-shirtss replacing the formal look with a far more laid-back look. Denim jeans also started to emerge, as well as sweatshirts.

Once the Disco culture appeared, the bell bottom jeans became a staple. It came up with different bright colors, as well as the polos and scarfs. Ladies started wearing sequined dresses, mostly in miniskirts and bell bottom jeans. T shirts also became popular for women and the shoes called bakya became popular.

Young boys also wore light and neon colored overcoats, polos, pants, short pants and t-shirts. Converse All-Stars were also popular among the teenagers. It became the norm to dress yourself in a way that states popularity of a certain sport or a certain sports team that a young person would feel loyalty towards.

Sportswear also became popular for day-to-day clothing. Leggings rose to popularity as well as jogging pants, headbands and legwarmers. The idea of daily comfort in range of clothing was taking control of fashion, and people no longer felt obligated to dress for others and very much started to dress for themselves.

Personal comfort took hold over the need to satisfy society or ones elders when choosing what to wear.
